Band update.

The story so far...

Councils are being encouraged to provide more activities for youth in their local area, and consequently, your local council have decided to refurbished the old community hall and have converted it into an all-ages venue for live bands. The new name for the community hall is the 'Billboard'.

The council have contracted Alison from M.O.S.H (Music Occupational Safety and Health) to ensure that occupational health and safety (OH&S) standards, as established by federal legislation and State and Territory Acts, are met before it is used by anyone.

You've accepted Alison's offer of a part time job to assist her in ensuring that all health and safety standards have been considered and that all polices and procedures for the venue are in place before the first big gig. You'll also be giving advice to Beside the Point (BTP) about their personal safety when setting up for a gig and when they are performing.

BTP have a keen interest in the hall revamp as they hope to be one of the first bands to play at 'The Billboard' once it meets ALL required OH&S standards. After all, they want to have a long career in this industry and they want punters to enjoy their music in a rocking but safe environment.

You've just had your first meeting with Alison and she has given you more details about your role as her assistant on this project. Your first job will be to get a grip on current OH&S legislation.

Before you start looking at occupational health and safety legislation, download the following worksheet to complete as you work your way through the unit.

Follow health, safety and security procedures - worksheet.

Store your completed worksheet in a file, as your online teacher will want to see it at the end of this unit.

If you ever lose your worksheet you can grab another copy off the audio school lecturer, Helen.

To help you learn more about OH&S, you've made yourself a 'To do' list and it looks like this:
